RV specific bike racks are rated for the significantly greater forces exerted onto a hitch mounted bike rack by an RV. Because the hitch on an RV is so much further behind the rear axle, all bumps and forces are exaggerated compared to a normal passenger vehicle.
Yakima says "A vehicle is an RV if the horizontal distance from the rear axle to the hitch pin hole, tow ball, or back of rear bumper (if no hitch receiver or tow ball is present) is 72" or greater."
